| EXAMS
- Microsoft Office certification exams are not
traditional tests with multiple choice answers. Instead,
you’re presented with an actual program interface
with a document already started. Steps appear in a pane
below the application window, and your task is to complete
the steps exactly as directed. Then you are scored on how
closely your result matches the computer’s version
of what is “correct.”
The passing score is 640 out of 1000, with
typically 17 scenerio based questions and a time limit of
50 minutes,

(on offer at $23). Microsoft Office XP:
Microsoft Office Specialist is designed with one thing in
mind: preparing you to pass the Microsoft Office Specialist
exam. Follow along as you cover a series of Skill Sets specific
to the Office XP exam.
Then test your understanding of each Skill
Set by completing the hands-on projects at the end of the
book. Target the skills you need to be successful. With
this book as your guide, you won't need to study anything
extra--it's like getting a peek at the exam before you take
it!
The book comprises 1328 pages and comes
as a paperback.
The
book covers the objectives for all 5 XP application exams:
Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access & Outlook and includes
the Expert objectives for Word & Excel. What impressed
me most about the book was that it focused entirely on the
exam objectives and did not waste time going over information
that would not be tested. The information is clear &
concise and for each exam objective they supplied a Skill
Overview, Activity Steps and at least 2 graphical figures.
Additionally, there are exercises at the end of each chapter
and projects for additional study on each application. The
book also contains a glossary for each application and includes
a CD containing exercise & project files.
